Tonight was the closing reception for the SOS – Save Our Shores exhibit at the Full Circle Gallery.
Description from the Full Circle Gallery…
“SOS : Save Our Shore” is a community exhibit in reaction to the Gulf oil spill. The show will be up from August 17th-August 28th with a closing reception on August 28th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. There will be a silent auction during the reception with all proceeds going to the artists of our community. This will be a great opportunity to pick up some amazing artwork and show your support for our talented community.
The goal of this show is to give artists and viewers a venue to express their different ideas, feelings and issues about the Gulf oil spill. In this way we can learn from each other and work towards a positive solution to this tragedy. Gallery owner Mercedes Rodgers says, “With so many of us affected by this disaster the Full Circle Gallery thought they would try to do something positive the the community”. So far there has been an amazing response to the show with inquires from New York to Brazil with questions about how to submit. This is going to be a dynamic show with a wide variety of mediums, concepts and styles on display.
During this show Mercedes Rodgers will introduce her “Security Blanket” a conceptual quilt made from reused petroleum-based plastics. For more information about the details of this project or other events at the Full Circle Gallery visit us on the web http://www.fullcirclefwb.com/securityblanket.php.
The show was great and the turnout, despite the weather, was equally amazing.
My piece based on the Gulf Coast Oil Spill (the Deepwater Horizon Incident) was on display. It is the last print of it to ever be for sale in any capacity and it sold! There was a silent auction for the artwork and I was very flattered to have mine sell. I don’t make artwork for the money by any means but it’s very flattering when someone likes my work enough to want it in their home.
My piece, “Oil in the Blood” features the always beautiful Yarrow. It is titled after the Rob Zombie song “Sawdust in the Blood” but I switched Sawdust for Oil. The phrase “Not All Damage Can Be Seen” was a collaboration between my best friend Michele and I. Thanks again, punkin.

I met several new people during the reception and it was great seeing existing friends. Mercedes, James, Kristina, Neslihan, Banu, Brad, etc. it’s always great to see you guys.
One really cool thing happened. I met a woman who wanted to take a picture of me standing next to “Oil in the Blood.” I happily obliged her and then asked her why she wanted it (I had never met her before). She told me her daughter goes to Niceville High School and asked me to confirm that I went there as well. I did. She then told me her daughter has a clipping of me from a newspaper on her wall. That’s definitely a first for me but a really cool first.
Anyways now that the exhibit has come to a close, I have added “Oil in the Blood” to my digital art portfolio.
Anyways thanks to everyone who came out tonight and supported the exhibit. This was a cause everyone at the Full Circle Gallery was very passionate about and I believe it met their hopes and expectations. It was great seeing all of you.
Good night.

Here is a promo I designed for my upcoming Beginner’s Photoshop class with the NWFLAA.
The back of the flyer has a promo for my upcoming exhibit, “…and all that could have been…”

The show was great.
Josh Thompson and the Lynyrd Skynyrd guys were all on top of their game and very polite as well.
Above you can see me rocking my all-access God pass. 3 different passes were needed to have total God access and I was rocking all 3 thanks to Lynn Dominique and Revive Media Services.
I’ll post some pictures once I have time to go through them all. I took around 800 which means I should have about… 5 good ones…
But for now, here’s a few pics I already took off the camera…

I’ll be teaching my first class on Photoshop on September 11, 2010. The class will actually be held at the Santa Rosa Mall and is being promoted by the NWFLAA. This is the first class I have ever taught and I’m a bit nervous about it. My brother is actually a high school teacher so I will likely get some pointers from him however this is still new territory for me.
This entire year has been a year of firsts. I like it.
More details to come soon. Keep your eye on the NWFLAA website for now.

Just a reminder, I will be attending the reception for ADSO’s 11th Annual Digital Art Exhibit.

I will be attending the reception for the 11th annual Digital Art & Photography Exhibit being put on by the Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach. My work is not part of the exhibit because I am an idiot and totally forgot to enter it. However I will be there just to socialize so…
Come out and say hello!

Here’s a couple of quick snapshots from my cellphone from the NWFLAA board meeting earlier today. We had board members on Skype this time from their homes on the computer which worked very well.

Today I was a part of the Staycation Expo at the Santa Rosa Mall with the NWFLAA.
The turn out was really good. It was a fun time and any time I can get Chick Fil A I’m a happy man so it was win-win.
There were several other non-profits there as well as a few local businesses.
From what I remember…
There were some army dudes there as well.
The Arts and Design Society also had a table there which was manned by the ADSO President Helen Harris as well as Linda Kernick.
The NWFLAA table was manned by myself, Holly Bain and Charlotte Snyder.
All in all, it was a good time and I’m very thankful to the Santa Rosa Mall for the opportunity. I hope the turn out was as good as they anticipated.
I recorded a little bit of footage from the day. Here’s a compilation video of the days events:
Off to the Santa Rosa Mall for a meet and greet, NWFLAA thing. Come out and say hi.
