[Rec]2

My friend loaned me a copy of [Rec]2 on DVD awhile ago and I just now got around to watching it and it was pretty good.
A lot more action packed than the original [Rec] which I absolutely loved. The original [Rec] played on the typical “scares” in horror films and teased them to such extremes that when things finally did jump out it was incredibly effective.
I was definitely interested when I heard [Rec]2 takes place exactly after [Rec] ends. [Rec]2 opens with a SWAT team en-route to the complex the original [Rec] took place in. We get a little intro to each characters personality before they’re dropped off in hell.
And this time… its just that.
[Rec]2 really explores the origin of what happened in [Rec] and actually doesn’t go the zombie route. In [Rec]2 everything is traced back to them being genuine demons.
I really liked this as it played on a lot of Christian ideology and also had a lot of creepy moments. One of my favorite moments is when the priest is interrogating a demon trying to find the source demon who is controlling them all. He asks it “Where are you!?” and the demon just replies “EVERYWHERE!”
Really cool commentary on how evil is everywhere, as the Christian ideology suggests.
There are a lot of cool action scenes (my favorites were the first person ones) and quite a few awesome surprises and cameos from the first film, including one huge return.
[Rec]2 reminded me a lot of the video game Doom at times and I think Hollywood would have been better trying to make a [Rec] style Doom movie than the action packed Doom movie they did make.
Anyways yeah, I recommend it. It carries on the [Rec] story very well and leaves room for a very interesting sequel if they go the route I imagine (taking the demons outside of the complex…)
Here’s some random cool screencaps.
